100 Miles Closer to a Cure

On October 16, 2007, Sheryl Warner, of Palm BeachGardens, will ride 100 miles on a stationary bike to raise funds in honor of her brother, for the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), more specifically, the John W. Warner Memorial Fund for Pancreas, Liver and Bile Duct Cancer Research. This will take place at Stayin' Alive North 3980 RCA Blvd. in Palm Beach Gardens, starting at 7:3 0 a.m. and going until about 4:00 p.m.

Sheryl's brother, John, would have turned 60 years old on October 16 th. He was a highly respected Sergeant with the Martin County Sheriff's Department for 16 years, succumbed to liver cancer July 22, 2006 at the age of 58. He was known for his commitment to law enforcement and his great sense of humor, which stayed with him throughout his illness and until his last days.

John and his wife, Georgetta, wrote a book titled "Smile You Are on Candid Cancer, My picture of Life at its Best" which was published shortly after his death. Essentially, it is a story of hope, faith and love that depicts a war with cancer in a humorous, while brutally honest manner. The story is laid out in a sequential format representing the events and treatment as they occur and as they fail. The book relays how they come to appreciate the value of time, friends and family as they continue to maintain control of an uncontrollable situation. Proceeds from the book go to the John W. Warner Memorial Fund for Pancreas, Liver and Bile Duct Cancer. Books can be purchased online at Barnes & Noble,

ISBN: 0-595-67819-X, and will also be available at Stayin' Alive during Sheryl's 100-mile ride.

Please stop by on Tuesday, October 16 th anytime between 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to cheer Sheryl on her 100-mile ride and support this great effort.

Donations will be accepted in support of Sheryl's efforts at the Stayin' Alive, or you can send your donation payable to AACR. Please note "John W. Warner Memorial Fund" on the check, and mail to 1063 Raintree Lane, Palm Beach Gardens, FL33410 ( % Sheryl Warner). All donations are tax deductible and 92% of any revenue raised goes directly to fighting liver, pancreas and bile duct cancers.
