Carol Lazzarino, Queen of High Fashion Hot Flashing Red Hat Society chapter and 22 other women had Tea and a guided tour of the Flagler Museum on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the Pavilion Cafe. Others attending were: Rose Macleod, Dolly Conforto, Lana Smith, Linda Cluney, Maggie Winston, Bernice Correra, Georgia Novotny, Anne Hlasnicek, Carol Bailey, Dianne Mainella, Lore Conti, Lori Moates, MJ Newkirk, Carole Anderson, Annette Lanzi, Kim Southworth, Sue Urban, Marge Hartig-Specht, Helene Kamp, and Marianne LaMarsh. Also attending were Eileen Barrett, queen of the Lucie Goosies and Florence Jones, Queen of Dazzling Dames in Red.
The Pavilion Café is open from Friday, November 23, 2007 (the Friday after Thanksgiving) through Saturday, March 22, 2008. A fixed-menu, fixed-price Gilded Age Style lunch is served 11:30am - 2:30pm Tuesday through Saturday and from 12:00pm - 3:00pm on Sunday in the Museum's Flagler Kenan Pavilion. The price for admission and tea is $18.00 for Members and $33.00 for non-members. The menu consists of a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and desserts prepared fresh daily offsite.
The Queen - Carol Lazzarino - had little red gift bags for each of us, which contained a red hat coffee cup, a red hat snowlady ornament, a deck of Red Hat playing cards, and chocolate kisses.
Visitors to the Flagler Museum have a choice of three tour options: a narrated audio tour, a self-guide brochure, or a docent-led tour (available three times daily - 11:00 a.m., 12:30pm, and 2:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 12:30 p.m., 1:30pm, and 2:30 p.m. Sundays). We had the docent-led tour of the ground floor.
The Flagler Kenan Pavilion, designed in the style of a 19th century Beaux Arts railway palace, houses Henry Flagler's private railcar, No. 91, and is open to visitors year round.
It was truly a wonderful day at a beautiful place. We are all looking forward to our next return - when we can possibly see upstairs.
