Flappers & Fedoras - The ACS Orchid Ball is Back!
Contributed by: Kim Stauder on 4/1/2008

WEST PALM BEACH, FL - April 1, 2008 - The 5th Annual American Cancer Society's (ACS) Orchid Ball will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008 at Morton's The Steakhouse in West Palm Beach. This year's exclusive Ball will take guests back to the excitement of 1920's Chicago with its theme, Flappers and Fedoras.

Limited to 150 guests, this year's Ball is expected to be the "ultra exclusive" event of the summer season. Special guests will be treated to an array of entertainment, fabulous live and silent auctions, gourmet cuisine by Morton's The Steakhouse and dancing in the speakeasy. From decorations to costume, the "Roaring Twenties" will be in full swing, whisking guests back to the era of the "Jazz Age."

This year's Leadership Committee; Chrissy Colton, Carla Canedo, Dr. Angela Culveyhouse, Kimberley Dillon Stauder, Lisa Faro-King, Diane Fitzgerald, Susan Malt and Judge Moss; are joined by the 2008 Orchid Ball Committee and are gearing up for what is going to be the most exciting fundraising event yet.

Sponsorship packages are still available, however seating is very limited. To guarantee a ticket to this exclusive event it is important to sign up for a sponsorship soon. For more information about sponsorship packages or to donate a tax-deductible auction item, call the American Cancer Society at 561-650-0127.

The ACS is committed to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. Research funded by the American Cancer Society helped to bring tamoxifen and PAP smears to the public. The public has the opportunity to be educated on breast and colorectal health through the American Cancer Society's education programs. The American Cancer Society took the lead on funding the Amendment 6 Campaign which brought about the no smoking laws to Florida's restaurants. Men, women and children who are diagnosed with cancer are supported through the American Cancer Society's services such as Road to Recovery, Man to Man, Reaching out to Cancer Kids (ROCK) and College Scholarships. These critical elements which help to eliminate cancer, could not take place without funding raised through the American Cancer Society's signature events.

Morton's Restaurant Group, Inc. is the world's largest operator of company-owned upscale steakhouses. Morton's steakhouses have remained true to its founders' original vision of combining generous portions of high quality food prepared to exacting standards with exceptional service in an enjoyable dining environment.
