Blog Entry 5 of 8 Am I the only one noticing this?
This is where I will occasionally write about things that just don't seem right. You know, writing more gun laws, the Governor blaming teachers for the mistakes of parents, sidewalks along A1A, banning salt...etc

My opinion doesn't count. What's next, my vote?
Contributed by: Casey Duke   on 3/9/2008

I have to share another interesting experience with you. It happened right here in YourHub.com involving a second Blog posting being pulled. Unlike the first act of opinion tampering, I received no courtesy email. If someone has the ability to simply delete an expression of concern (an opinion), what is next?

Question: Are not the opinions expressed clearly those of the writers, and not those of the medium through which they are expressed? The answer to that question is yes (see below). So why do my "opinions" keep getting pulled from the site? They couldn't really be considered offensive, libelous, or defamatory to anyone (except bad parents with fat kids, socialists, and government employees who consider themselves above the law). Perhaps an editor with less concern about what the public sees then what he sees. (When HE is used, both genders are implied.) In any event, isn't the medium off the hook for responsibility by simply posting the terms of use agreement (see below)? If someone has an issue with a comment found on this site, STOP READING. If you don't like what is on the television, change the channel. My posts are created with the idea of opening minds, not closing them.
Here is the excerpt from the terms of use agreement: It is reprinted without permission (which will probably get this post pulled too).

For example, when I wrote how my Blog was pulled when an editor thought a certain caption attached to picture (available through public domain) might insinuate a western law enforcement organization was doing something unprofessional. I suspect he was considering that defamatory. I expressed an opinion that my writing was a victim of misguided censorship. Would it surprise anyone to find out that the very same Blog presenting that example of censorship would itself fall to the same narrow-minded attitude? Yes THAT post was pulled.

I feel I have interesting and humorous things to write about. Maybe I am the only one with that opinion. However, as editors find it more and more necessary to scrutinize MY Blogs and dictate what you can't read, I will have to redirect my efforts to change their minds.

It goes back to what I subtly suggested just last week; The press acts as thought it has a specific and well directed campaign to ensure you see, read and feel the way they want you to. Either is fits neatly into that profile or it is edited, removed or, in the worst of examples, the writer is discredited.

Lets see if this post makes it 48 hours.......
