Pelican Yacht Club Refurbishes in Time for Season
Contributed by: Jeannette Walsh on 9/29/2009

The Pelican Yacht Club is steeped in history on the Treasure Coast, but is sporting a brand new face. After closing for several weeks during the summer, the Pelican Yacht Club opened its doors again in late August to its members and to local businesses and non-profit groups looking for a new home for their holiday and seasonal events.

"We're excited about the busy season this year. The Club looks great, we have a new menu and the staff is energized," said Club General Manager Andy Zinni. "There isn't a more beautiful location to host an event in St Lucie County!"

The Pelican Yacht Club first opened its doors in 1946 and has been a favorite place for gatherings, parties, fundraisers and events for more than 60 years now. This past summer the Club was spruced up in many ways. The lobby floor was refinished to high gleam, the main bar, which looks out over the Fort Pierce inlet, was refinished, all the upholsteries and carpet were cleaned, and the kitchen was steam cleaned.

"Some of the largest events on the Treasure Coast have taken place here at The Pelican Yacht Club", states Zinni, "and we're already getting calls and bookings for this season's major events". The two largest dining rooms at the club overlook the Fort Pierce Inlet and members and visitors are treated to a show of dolphins jumping, sailboats going past the large windows and one of the most dramatic sunset locations on the Treasure Coast.

The Pelican Yacht Club is also host to the third leg of the Treasure Coast Billfish Invitational. In years past, more than 50 boats have participated in this event that has a cash prize package of $11,000. The Tournament at the Pelican is January 5th-9th, 2010. The Pelican Yacht Club also has one of the finest docks in the area with more than 90 slips, ethanol free gasoline pumps and a location of less than ½ mile from the mouth of the inlet. Local and transient boats are welcome and owners may call the marina at (772) 464-1734.

Besides the fine dining, breathtaking views and state-of-art marina, members of the Pelican Yacht Club also enjoy a private fitness center and spa, a pool and The Crow's Nest, a second story open air dining room with several televisions, popular for watching this seasons football games.

For questions about the Tournament, membership at the Pelican or hosting an event at the Pelican, please call Andy Zinni at (772) 464-2700 or email him at info@pelicanyachtclub.com. You may also visit them on line at www.pelicanyachtclub.com. The Pelican Yacht Club is located at 1120 Seaway Drive, Fort Pierce, Florida 34949.
