Two Chambers Announce Merger
Contributed by: Jeannette Walsh on 9/29/2009

The Treasure Coast Women's Chamber and the City of Port St. Lucie Chamber of Commerce's joint Board of Directors have announced that they have merged, becoming one unified organization in the City of Port St. Lucie. The Women's Chamber will now be known as the Women's Council, a division of the City Chamber of Commerce. In addition to this merger, The Success Club of the Treasure Coast is also going to come under the umbrella of the City Chamber. The merger unites two strong community Chambers with a local business fundraising organization and brings them under one roof.

Acting Women's Chamber President Christy Yonta was excited about the union of all three groups. "This means that each organization will be three times stronger, and have three times the resources to take on and complete the missions and goals of each group. This was a unanimous decision by the Women's Chamber board and we are excited about moving forward with this merger," says Yonta.

The union will allow businesses and individuals in the community to be a member of all three groups with one membership and one check. Because the three groups have always had similar missions, the merger will be a smooth transition for all. The City of Port St. Lucie Chamber of Commerce's mission is to advance business to business relationships, promote its members and advocate for education in the community at large. The Women's Chamber works to help women in business, and to raise money for scholarships for women. The Success Club's mission is to help other businesses succeed and to raise money for education.

Board members of the City Chamber are excited as well. "Being able to cohesively merge three strong groups into one very powerful group of business leaders will enable us to do so much good for the business community and the community at large. We're happy that all the boards involved in this merger had the vision to see the possibilities," stated John Adams, President of The City of Port St. Lucie Chamber of Commerce. Port St. Lucie Mayor Pat Christensen expressed the same sentiments. "I'm very pleased to see two strong business organizations come under one roof. I think this will have very positive benefits for the local business arena," Christensen said.

Membership is open and the current annual membership rates beginning at $150.00 will be honored throughout 2009. To download a membership application or to see membership benefits, visit www.cityofpslchamber.com. Or call John Adams at 772-485-7933 or John Bowman at 772-398-9990.
