Port St. Lucie novelist, Bette Lee Crosby introduced her latest release "
Cracks in the Sidewalk" at the October 5 th meeting of the PGA Women's Club which was held at the Island Club. The story, Crosby told the group, is a fictionalized version of actual events that took place in the life of a dear friend. After relating the background of the story, and sharing a few secrets of her writing life, Crosby read numerous excerpts from the first chapter, then autographed copies of the book for members of the club.
Cracks in the Sidewalk is a novel about a mother's love for her daughter and her lost grandchildren that begins with a Theroux quote stating,
"A letter is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart." And move your heart this book does, with a story that is at times heart wrenching yet somehow always inspirational. Released in August of 2009, the bookis currently a finalist in the Royal Palm Literary Competition. Crosby's earlier novel
Girl Child received the First Place Award for Fiction at the 2007 Florida Biennial of the National League of American Pen Women.
