Stages of My Life
By: Saundra Rohn
My younger years found me taking the tiger by the tail. Then that tiger began to run in circles and I was spinning, slipping, and sliding down a yellow path of wonder. Sunday School, Nursery Rhymes, Hop Scotch, marbles, paper dolls and picking flowers from the fields of yellow grass, riding horses, sunbathing on the beach, and holding hands with the love of my life filled this stage.
Now, the butterfly metamorphous began and my life changed. The changes in my life were exciting but somehow they just were not the same as holding on to the tail. Marriage, babies, K-5, Middle School, and High School had all come and gone.
The middle years seem to unfold like the pages of a book leaving the beginning behind and longing for the climax. I had a passion for learning about the world. An empty nest, College, teaching, Brazil, Paris, grandbabies all left me with magical memories.
The golden years have come gently and quietly like silent feet on the pathway to heaven. I now reach for the stars with a freedom I earned from being ME, a child, wife, mother, and grandmother. Fishing, traveling, praying for peace, giving unconditional love and looking forward to retirement brings forth a stage made for intimacy.
