Aegis Communications, Inc. of Port Saint Lucie is not only one of the largest employers in Saint Lucie County, but also a successful provider of educational opportunity for at-risk high school students. Since 1999, Aegis has provided full supportfor an on-site classroom for the Learn and Earn Academy, a satellite school offering a full complement of accredited high school courses, mentoring and dual enrollment business classes through Indian River Community College; all of which lead to an official high school diploma through the Performance Based Diploma Program of Fort Pierce Central High School. Upon, graduation students have a seamless transition to IRSC because of the dual enrollment business credits earned in the program.

Since 1999, ninety at-risk student of the Saint Lucie County Schools have taken advantage of this unique "school within a business" to continue their secondary education and earn a high school diploma. The Learn and Earn Academy has been the recipient of numerous state and local awards, including the 2003 Florida's Best Business and Education Partnership Award.
