The Jaguar Battalion Raider Team competed on Saturday, October 17 th at a competition sponsored by the Florida Institute of Technology ROTC. The Jaguars faired well in the open competition in which numerous other JROTC units competed.
The Jaguars fielded two teams-one male and one female-each comprised of five cadets. On the male team were Travis Riegler, Matthew Jacobson, Carmine Aurrichio, Shawn Gifford, and Christopher Rader, with Timothy Hunter as an alternate. The female team consisted of Samantha Folk, Diamond Salazar Amanda Mabry, Laura Maldonado and Schnaila Thevenot.
The competition consisted of three events, including push-ups, sit-ups and a two-mile run. The Jaguars did pretty well in the large competition. Following the competition, all the participants were invited to enjoy Aviation Day at the nearby MelbourneInternationalAirport. There, all the cadets were able to enjoy and learn about many kinds of civilian and military aircraft.
Overall, this competition provided a day of fun competition and learning for the Raiders. Good job Raiders and all those who competed.
