"Little Way" to Honor St. Therese
Contributed by: Linette Trabulsy on 10/9/2009

On October 1, St. Anastasia Catholic School kindergarten students participated in a procession honoring St. Therese on her feast day. Several years ago, the kindergarten students adopted St. Therese as their patron saint. Generations of Catholics have admired this young saint, calling her the "Little Flower." St. Therese is known for her "Little Way." In her quest for sanctity, she realized that it was not necessary to accomplish heroic acts, or "great deeds," in order to attain holiness and to express her love of God. She wrote, "Love proves itself by deeds, so how am I to show my love? Great deeds are forbidden me. The only way I can prove my love is by scattering flowers and these flowers are every little sacrifice, every glance and word, and the doing of the least actions for love."

Thus, the kindergarten students honor her by giving a rose to adults as they process around the school grounds. During the procession, one student dresses as St. Therese and another student dresses as a Guardian Angel to honor the Feast Day of the Guardian Angels that takes place on October 2.

Located at 401 South 33rd Street in Fort Pierce, St. Anastasia Catholic School serves students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade and is one of 21 schools in the Diocese of Palm Beach. For more information, call (772) 461-2232 or visit the website at www.stanna.org.
