Transplanted Pennsylvanian Sam Hossler, now living on the Treasure Coast, has had his third historical novel published. This latest work,
A Bloodstained Land, follows the life of a young Seneca lad through his adventures of guiding for the French throughout Pennsylvania, New Your and Ohio. His vision is the reclaiming of his tribe's ancestral land taken over by the Europeans as they swarmed over the territory driving the Native Americans out.
As a teenager he guided the French down from Lake Erie to the junction of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers then on down the Ohio where the French wanted to establish trade relations with a tribe doing business with the English. His adventures include getting married outside of his ancestral home and life with the Delaware's at the village of Kittanning along the Allegheny River. The attack of this village by the Pennsylvania militia and the disappearance of his family during the battle turns his hatred for the white man into a burning fury. Joining Chief Pontiac's Rebellion his final acts prove futile driving him further west in search of his family.
Actual places, dates and historical people are used in the story with the dialog and many adventures fictional.
