We have in our community a person who is a professional musician and music teacher. Linda Green-Shepherd has been a full time musician along with her husband for the past 30 yrs. They moved to the Treasure Coast about 20 yrs ago where they made there musical mark in the late 80's as "Shepherd-N-Green". They have traveled and performed in 25 states up and down the east coast of the US.
About 10 yrs ago Linda began teaching private voice and trumpet. Since her beginning she has prepared many students for there musical journey. Most of her students have gone on to study music and musical theater in college, some here in the south and some up north.
This year one of her students, Bridget Bellach, a graduate of Lincoln Park Academy, became her most celebrated music student thus far. Bridget came to Linda 3 yrs ago; that's when their musical journey began. They began preparing for her senior year of high school: for her college and university auditions.
Bridget auditioned at 9 colleges and universities. Just to name a few of the schools: Penn State, Univ. of the Arts in Philly, Wagner, Ithaca, and Boston Conservatory. The rest of the schools were here in the south. At any rate, Bridget was accepted at all with scholarships offers totaling around $300,000.00. WOW!!!!! She chose the Univ. of the Arts in Philly. There she was awarded a full scholarship. Through this journey she had to take very difficult music theory examinations, which she was totally prepared for. During the auditioning process, she called her teacher Linda at every stop to keep her informed on how things were going. What a compliment.
Linda works very hard training voices in our area. Teaching them how to use their vocal instrument properly, which is a very technical process, that only a trained and schooled individual is qualified to do. Not only does she train the voice instrument, she also teaches music theory- the foundation of learning how to read music.
Along with the vocal studio, there is a bigger picture. This is a family affair: Jeffery & Linda, Jeff's brother, Paul and, Jeff and Linda's daughter, Dominique.
