On Saturday, March 15 th, the Treasure Coast Mall Borders Bookstore will feature a
Meet and Greet Book Signing with award-winning author Bette Lee Crosby, who is one of St. Lucie County's own. According to Sean Forde, Store Manager, "Bette Crosby is an exciting new voice of fiction, and we are thrilled to be the first store in this area to have her participate in a book signing." Crosby will be at the Treasure Coast Mall Borders from 1PM until 3PM and the store is already preparing for a sizeable crowd.
Girl Child, Crosby's latest novel is written in a Southern voice, and although some might consider it a historical novel, it offers up the most tantalizing aspects of a good mystery. Readers are already clamoring for a sequel. Little wonder this book was accorded First Place Honors for Published Fiction at the 2007 National League of American Pen Women Florida Biennial Conference.
After ten years of hard work and hundreds of rejection letters, Crosby's literary career has become something of a Cinderella story. Since the release of
Girl Child in 2007, word of mouth has extended the sale of this novel as far West as California and as far North as Minnesota. It has also been designated the April Book Club Selection by the Grand Harbor Book Club. Crosby has been invited to speak at the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, several Red Hat Ladies groups, large book clubs and church groups. She is an inspirational speaker who often talks about the changing role of women in today's world as well as her own quite colorful background.
When asked how a Yankee such as herself can not only write, but also think like a Southerner, Crosby laughs and confesses that her parents were West Virginians. "That's the voice I've heard in my head ever since childhood," she says, "and it comes to me without my even thinking about it." She frequently delights the audience with tales of growing up with a Southern Mama.

Girl Child can visit her website at www.betteleecrosby.com.
Based on the success of
Girl Child a summer release is planned for Crosby's
What Matters Most, which won a 2006 award while still in manuscript form.
