Helping the Young Learn Why
Contributed by: Susan F. Scherer on 5/24/2009

Memorial Day weekend.

It isn't just about sales and picnics, but how amny of our children realize that?
How many children, or adults slow down on this holiday weekend and just stretch out a hand to soldier and thank them for their service?

I am not perfect, and I am the first to admit that I am not always the first one to reach out my hand to thank soldiers from WWI or any of the wars, that I am here because of them. I am able to do what I do every day because of the service they did or are doing.

When I was a child war was far away.
I graduated in the 80's. So for us there was no real need for us to go in the service. Most of my classmates went on to college, or if they went in the service it was a way to pay for cmore education. Now, every other person you meet has served in one capacity or another, and they need to know that appriciate what they have done for us.

Many have given more then any of us have ever been asked to give, they gave their lives.
