This year more than 120 authentic antique vehicles are expected for the annual "Fall Festival of Cars" staged by the Treasure Coast Vintage Car Club, a region of the Antique Automobile Club of America. The show, formerly held in downtown Stuart, will take place on the Town Square at Tradition, Port St. Lucie Saturday, October 24,in cooperation with the Town of Tradition. The show features restored and original automobiles, trucks, tractors, motor scooters and motorcycles from the early 1900s through the mid eighties.
"Gweed and his Gangsters" popular oldies DJ will provide day-long entertainment.
Typical of the rare and fascinating vehicles that have appeared at this event, are a 1918 Dodge Phaeton, factory equipped with a unique combination generator/starter-just now being re-discovered as a high-tech item. A 1981 stainless steel-bodied
"Back to the Future" DeLorean, as well as a 1929 Oakland (predecessor to today's Pontiac) and a 1928 Graham Brothers Canopy Express truck are expected on the show field.
Of course many fifties and sixties classics will also be shown including restored classic Corvettes, Chargers, Camaros, Mustangs, Thunderbirds, GTOs and others, presented just as they would have appeared in their day on the showroom floor.
Tradition's many excellent restaurants and shops will be open during and after the show. Festivities begin at 10 AM and conclude at 4, after trophies are awarded. Admission and parking are free to the general public.
Vehicles must be pre-registered for judging ($20 fee) and no street rods are permitted. Drive-ons will be welcomed at $25 per entry. All show cars must have an operable fire extinguisher on board. For show information and registration forms, contact JoAnn Smith at 287-1903 or go to
