GRACE Emmanuel Announces Awana Program Training and Registration Events
GRACE Emmanuel Church is launching an Awana program in Port St Lucie. Awana Training with Jim Lambeth from Awana International is planned for August 8 from 9:00am-12:30pm. The Awana Training and Orientation is open to area churches and pastors. On August 22, from 2p-4p, GRACE Emmanuel will have an informative and fun Open House and Registration. All children in the community three years old and up through sixth grade are welcome to participate. The weekly evening program begins Wednesday, September 9 th and will be 6:45-8:00pm. Awana is an international, Bible-centered children's and youth ministry providing local churches with weekly clubs, programs and training for students in preschool through high school.
The goal is to equip churches to reach kids, and their families, with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve. The acronym Awana comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. Awana works with 12,000 churches from nearly 100 different denominations in all 50 states. It began as a children's program at the North Side Gospel Center in Chicago in 1941. Lance Latham, North Side's senior pastor, collaborated with the church's youth director, Art Rorem, to develop weekly clubs that would appeal to churched and unchurched kids, lead them to trust Christ for salvation and grow them in enduring faith and service to God. The Awana website is
