On the weekend following 9-11, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church was honored to have a local, dynamic guest speaker at all four of their Masses. Lieutenant Tommy Neiman, a firefighter with the St. Lucie Fire District, shared his stories of faith among on-scene fire and rescue calls.

Lieutenant Tommy Neiman is a firefighter/paramedic and the Spring Training Chaplain for the New York Mets. He was awarded the 2003 Firefighter of the Year for Florida.

An ardent desire to follow the Lord's call to service after 9-11 gnawed at his inner self until he responded by joining eleven other chaplains at the Urn Ceremony to assist with the distribution and to offer consolation to some of the families of the victims of the World Trade Center.

In an effort to instill hope to those in despair, Tommy Neiman put together an array of inspirational short stories that was compiled by him through a book entitled, "Sirens for the Cross". This enlightening assemblance of true life stories was available for purchase after each Mass.

His love of faith, family and friends throughout the Fraternity of Firefighters in this County and throughout the country has led him to numerous speaking engagements over the years.
