75th Founders Day Luncheon
Contributed by: Raeann Wallace on 5/12/2009

Members of St Lucie-Martin County Council celebrated the 75th year of their founding at a luncheon held at Indian River Presbyterian Church. A message was read by Sheri Neri from Laura Ross Wingfield, granddaughter of founder, Walter W. Ross. The 2009 theme of "Share our Passport to Adventure" was presented by Susan Kilmer.

Beta Sigma Phi International is a non-academic sorority with 200,000 members in chapters around the world. Founded in Abilene, Kansas in 1931 by Walter W. Ross, the organization has spread to every state of the United States, to every Canadian province, and to 30 other countries. The sorority was founded for the social, cultural, and civic enrichment of its members. Donations of approximately $1 million have been made to medical research and treatment and to such institutions as homes for children.

At the luncheon, four chapters revealed their Woman of the Year selections. From their respective chapters, Raeann Wallace, Norma Miles, Barbara Orr and Linda Spodick were chosen.
