NATIVE PLANT SOCIETY TO DISCUSS BEES MAY 13

PORT ST. LUCIE - The Lakela's Mint Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will present a workshop on bees at its next meeting on Tuesday, May 13 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Oxbow Eco-Center, St. Lucie County's Environmental Learning Center.

St. Lucie County Cooperative Extension Educator Ed Skvarch will present "Don't Worry, BEE Happy!" Come and learn about the value of bees for the environment and agriculture. Find out how you can support the continued survival of bees, through reducing or eliminating your use of pesticides and planting some of the bee's favorite flowers. We'll even find out how to create a "bee box."

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments and a special movie trailer, followed by the featured speaker at 7 p.m.

These monthly meetings are free and open to the public.

The Lakela's Mint Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Oxbow Eco-Center, 5400 N.E. St. James Drive, Port St. Lucie. For more information call (772) 785-5833.
