A Hidden Jewel in Port St. Lucie
Ravenswood Pool
A couple of years back, when I was 46 and recovering from leg surgery, my movements were slow, while my weight was rising rapidly. I decided to get back on the bike, literally. While riding down Ravenswood Lane completely by accident, I found the beautiful county Ravenswood Pool. In the five years I've lived here I had no idea there was a pool within a mile of my home. It almost seems hidden behind the public library on Prima Vista.
I stopped in and found out they offer Aquasize classes and part of the cost was covered through the H2U program sponsored by Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. Aside from the affordable pass, aquasize became a very effective form of therapy, especially because they offer different levels of intensity. Deb and Lynn are our instructors and are certified by the AEA (Aquatic Exercise Assn) and they insure safety and enjoyment with their thorough knowledge of aquatics. There was something else I found aside from Deb's no nonsense routines and Lynn's Mother Earth qualities-this activity is a major stress reliever each day. We have a nice group of very dedicated people that I look forward to seeing every morning and some evenings. We are a colorful group of characters, we come in all ages and sizes, and there is no shortage of hip and knee replacements among us!
Each morning and some evenings it's a hustle into the water, we say our 'hellos' and 'how are you?', we welcome the 'newbies' then it's down to business of stretching, toning, and cardio all packed into a 45 minute class that is over before you want it to be.
What I've come to learn is it's not just the pool or the lifeguards or the instructors. It's these people that come back day after day that are the 'true hidden jewels of Port St. Lucie.'
Do you want to be a part of something special??? We're having fun in Port St. Lucie at Ravenswood Pool. Call 871-2183 for information.
