Lupus Wings Hold St Lucie Health and Info Expo

On Saturday morning, June 28th, the Port St Lucie Community Center was a bustle of activity as the Lupus Wings Inc and Hispanic Health Care Professionals held their first annual Health and Information Expo. Many gathered to find out information health related programs that are available in our area.

I got a chance to chat with the organizers of the event and came to find out that with our growing Hispanic population in the area there are many that are going without health care, because they are not aware of the programs that are out there for them to take advantage of. This gathering enabled the providers to get information into the hands of those that need it or to those that can steer others into the programs in the future.

The driving force behind the program were the folks involved in the LUPUS WINGS Network. These folks are founded by a lady that has herself dealt with the confusing and sheltering effects of the Health Care Field when she was diagnosed with Lupus and dealt with the staggering effects of feeling lost and isolated in a system that was not helping her find the answers she was looking for. So gathering her wits about her Christina Magtalis helped by her husband Ron formed the LUPUS WINGS Network to provide support and encouragement to those facing a chronic medial problem that often leaves one alone and scared.
