St. Lucie Medical Center's facility and security staff braved flood waters from Tropical Storm Fay to make sure the hospital grounds and building were a safe and dry haven for patients, visitors and staff. Primarily due to their hard work, the hospital remained operational during and after the storm.
As Tropical Storm Fay flooded the City of Port St. Lucie this month, Director Harold Lacy, and Supervisors Kerry Krupilis, and Michael Glass worked round the clock not only to maintain the integrity of the building, but they also drove their own vehicles through flood waters to pick up nurses and doctors and bring them safely into work. The OB department is especially grateful as they had an emergency C-Section situation arise and needed the OB/GYN physicians and their nurses to come in immediately during the storm. Security Officers David Jones, Joe Difilippi, Tony Chavez, and Leon Lloyd, all worked long hours to cover the shifts over the two days of the storm's worst weather. Because of the Facilities crew, the hospital was able to maintain adequate numbers of nursing and medical staff to care for the patients. A big thank you goes out to these brave storm troopers for their dedication and efforts.
