On April 1st and 2nd, Catherine L. LaValle, National President of the American Military Retirees Association and resident of Port St. Lucie, FL went to Washington DC with National First Vice President, Lonnie Vessell, Texas and Executive Director, Peg Bergeron, Plattsburgh, NY to talk with our elected officials and the Secretary of Veteran Affairs regarding military retiree concerns.National President Catherine LaValle met with Congressman Tom Rooney, Yariv Pierce, military aide to Senator Nelson, David Brown, military aid to Senator Martinez and finally the Secretary of Veteran's Affairs, General Shinseki.

The American Military Retirees Association's mission is to band together as military retirees to protect Military retirees earned benefits. Some of the issues addressed were the opposition of TRICARE fee increases, supporting full concurrent receipt for all military retirees no matter the length of service which would include those coming back for today's wars.

The American Miltary Retirees Association has a local chapter which meets in Port St. Lucie on the second Monday of every month, with the exception of June, July and August at 1900 hours at the DAV Hall, 1150 SW California Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL.
