RED HAT TEA PARTY
Contributed by: Eileen Barrett on 2/21/2008

The Harbor Lites sponsored a Red Hat Tea Party at Harbor Place off of Jennings Road in Port Saint Lucie on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 11:30AM til 1:00PM. It was attended by 100 Red Hatters from the following Chapters: Crimson Tea Roses, Dazzling Dames in Red, Foxy Red Hatters, Les Femme en Rouge, Lucie Goosies, Pizazzy Pineapples, Red Hat Tomatoes, Red Hattitudes of PLV, Red Rebelles, Scarlet Vamps and our Hostesses - the Harbor Lites.

What a wonderful tea!!! The room was decorated with round tables with a Red and Purple balloons in the center of each table. Down through the middle of the room was a feast fit for any Queen. There were just lots and lots of tea-size sandwiches, and desserts along with strawberries and grapes. There was your choice of Tea of coffee.

There were 3 door prizes:
Teddy Bear - won by Mary Lou Hughes of the Red Hat Tomatoes
Vase of Purple Tulips - won by Queen Anna Andreacchio of the Scarlet Vamps
A New Red Hat - won by Ann Santos of the Red Rebelles.

Debora Thompson shared information about the Alzheimer's "Memory Walk" on March 29, 2008. It will be a 2 ½ mile walk across the Roosevelt Bridge. There will also be a mini walk at the Park. We should all volunteer and wear our Red Hats, and Purple Shirts will be given to all participants.

The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk® is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Held annually in hundreds of communities across the country, this inspiring event calls on volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

Last year, $70,000 was raised and there were about 1200 walkers.

There were tours of the facility available to anyone who wished to tour.

We all Sang "The More We Get Together" and some of the ladies played it on their kazoos.

It was truly a wonderful day, and they will perhaps have another Red Hat Tea in either June or July.
