Contributed by: Eileen Barrett on 4/18/2008

What a wonderful luncheon and a great turnout!!!

On Saturday, April 12, 2008, there was a Queens and Vice Queens luncheon held at Gatwicks at the Holiday Inn in Port St. Lucie. There were 74 Queens and Vice Queens attending (tied with the record at Vero in January).
Chapters attending were: Beach Babes, Bodacious Babes, Capella Rosa, Chapeau Rouge, Chapeau Rouge by the Sea, Cherry Charmers, Classy Red Foxes, Crimson Tea Roses, Dazzling Dames in Red, Distinguished Ladies, Foxy Red Hatters, Friends to the End, Frilly Red Hatters, Glad Hatters of Vero, Hurricane Hatters, Hurricane Hatties, Jazzy Red Hat Divas, Lake Charles Classy Redkettes, Les Femmes En Rouge, Lucie Goosies, St. Lucie Red Hat Belles, Naughty Angels in Red, Pizazzy Pineapplles, Pampered Pack of Peacocks, Purple Passion Ladies, Purple Passions of Hutchinson Island, Rebels with Hatatude, Red Hat Gator Gals, Red Hat Mamas of Vista Royale, Red Hattitudes of PLV, Red HOt Visors of SLW, Royal Rubies, Scarlet Dames, Scarlett Divas, Scarlet Pimpernels, Scarlet Vamps, Tall Pine Needles and Treasure Coast Ruby Red Jewels. Each person attending received a Red Hat Feather Pen.

Our Mistress of Ceremonies was Florence Jones, Queen of Dazzling Dames in Red. She welcomed all the queens and vice queens attending the luncheon, and then we all stoof for the Pledge of Allegiance and Red Hat Pledge.

The Readings were done by Eileen Barrett, Queen of the Lucie Goosies. She read "Oh My Gosh, Missing Parts", and "The Art of Falling Apart".

We had a special guest attending this luncheon - a Queen from a Red Hat Chapter from Germany. She was introduced by Margie Nash, Queen of Bodacious Babes.

Congratulations were made to Maxine Bowman, Vice Queen of the Purple Passions of Hutchinson Island and her team for winning a recent Red Hat Golf Tournament. Maxine claims it was all due to her high handicap.

A bottle of wine was presented to Dorothy Greer, Queen of the Treasure Coast Ruby Red Jewels for being the first to pay to attend the luncheon.

There was several new chapters recognized, as well as new queens and those attending the Queens and Vice Queens luncheon for the very first time.

We also recognized all those having a birthday during the month of April. They were all ask to stand, while the rest of us either sang or serenaded them on our kazoos with Happy Birthday!

Florence Jones recited a Red Hat prayer just before our meal.

After lunch and dessert, we divided the rooms into two teams for a game of Red Hat Trivia. It was thought that since this is the 10 year birthday of the Red Hat Society, this would be appropriate. Team I won the game and each received a large Hershey's Milk Chocolate Candy Bar. Team II each received miniature candy bars.

There was some open discussion and upcoming events and announcementss made just prior to the drawing for the Red Hat Split. The $100 winner was Margie Richard, Queen of Frilly Red Hatters of Vero Beach. The $45 winner was Carlyn Russell, Vice Queen of the Red Hat Gator Gals.
