QUEENS LUNCHEON AT PANTHER WOODS
Contributed by: Eileen Barrett on 9/22/2008

On Thursday, September 18, 2008, Queens and Vice Queens from Treasure Coast Red Hat Chapters met at Panther Woods Country Club for their quarterly Luncheon. Chapters represented were: Beach Babes, Bling Bling Babes, Boop Oop A Doop Girls, Capella Rosa, Cherry Charmers, Classic Crimson Cruisers, Classie Lassies of the Fairways, Classy Red Foxes, Crimson Chapelere, Crimson Tea Roses, Dazzling Dames in Red, Foxy Red Hatters, Friends to the End, Frivilous Flirts, Glad Hatters of Vero, Golden Girls of the Treasure Coast, Lucie Goosies, Naughty Angels in Red, Pampered Pack of Peacocks, Purple Foxes of SLCCV, Purple Passion Ladies, Purple Passions of Hutchinson Island, Rebels with Hatatude, Red Bonnet Belles, Red Hat Divas, Red Hat Gator Gals, Red Hat Mamas of Fort Pierce, Scarlet Dames, and Scarlet Red Hatters of Cascades.

Shirley Doney, Queen of Friends to the End and Kristine Loessin, Queen of Pampered Pack of Peacocks were at the Check-In Desk. Each person picked their Table Number out of an envelope of where they would be sitting, in addition to receiving a piece of paper to indicate their menu choice for lunch.

Red Hat Split tickets were sold by Ann McCormick and Angel Decker.

Our Mistress of Ceremonies was Florence Jones, Queen of Dazzling Dames in Red. She welcomed everyone to the luncheon, and then asked them to all stand to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and the Red Hat Pledge.

A special presentation was made to Jean Jane Althoff, past queen of the Pizazzy Pineapples, and Retha Kraehenbuehl, past queen of Pampered Pack of Peacocks. Eileen Barrett, Queen of the Lucie Goosies presented both of these ladies with a dozen roses. They have both served on the council, and have recently stepped down, allowing their vice queens to become Queens of their chapters as well as be a representative on the Treasure Coast Queens Council.

A presentation was made to the first lady who paid to attend the luncheon. Nancy Deas, Vice Queen of the Golden Girls of the Treasure Coast received a bottle of wine.

There were two chapters who have attended all 4 of the Queens Luncheons in 2008. They were Glad Hatters of Vero and Foxy Red Hatters. The Queen and Vice Queen for each of the Chapters received a bottle of wine.

Jean Jane Althoff read the poem "Warnings" by Jenny Joseph.

Lunch consisted of your choice of Chicken Caesar Salad or Stuffed Chicken Breast, with roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables. Cheesecake was dessert.

Retha Kraehenbuehl led us in a Trivia Game with 20 questions, and then a playoff of 10 more questions for those there were tied. The winning team was "Dressed to the Nines", which consisted of Florence Jones, Shirley Doney, Ann McCormick, Shelby Lowe, and Sue Carter. They each won a candy bar.

After the trivia game, we had some discussion around a suggestion that was received concerning the upcoming Christmas Party. The letter that was sent in was read aloud, and then those attending were to vote on whether to bring a "Toy for Tots", Gift for Gift Exchange, or Neither at the Christmas Party. After much discussion, it was decided that we will not bring a Toy for Tots, nor have a Gift Exchange at the Christmas Party. Instead each chapter will donate a door prize (valued at $15), and they will write their name on the bottom of the gift. For those chapters that don't bring a door prize, they can donate $15 in an envelope to be given out as a door prize.

A list of upcoming events were read by the Mistress of Ceremonies.

The Red Hat Split Winner was Eileen Barrett, Queen of the Lucie Goosies.
