On Wednesday, February 18, 2009 eighteen Red Hatters from the Port St. Lucie area got on a bus and headed to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre for the 60's musical - Beehive. The trip was arranged through Custom Tours of Port St. Lucie. The chapters that attended were: Classic Crimson Cruisers, Lucie Goosies, Lake Charles Classy Redkettes, Rebels with Hatatude, Scarlet Dames and Treasure Coast Ruby Red Jewels.
When we arrived at the theatre, there were at least two other Red Hat chapters attending - the Pizazzy Pineapples of Jensen Beach, and the Rediculous Resorters of West Palm Beach.
What a show!!!! The six ladies in the show (Felicia Boswell, Bridget Beirne, Autumn Hurtbert, Noel Molinelli, Lisa Estridge and Anastacia McCleskey) took us back to the 1960's. We re-lived that era - from the early 60's girl groups to the soulful adult blues of the late 60's - Janis Joplin. They sang songs like "My Boyfriend's Back", "Sweet Talkin ' Guy", "Come See About Me", "I Hear a Symphony", "It's My Party", "You Don't Own Me", "Where the Boys are" "Downtown", "To Sir with Love" and "Me and Bobby McGee", just to name a few.
After the performance, our group of Red hatters headed to Jetties for dinner. The Pizazzy Pineapples joined us. We ate out on the deck overlooking the water and the Jupiter Lighthouse. The service was excellent and the food was out of this world.
What a wonderful day we all had!
