RED HATTERS VISIT SEMINOLE INN
Contributed by: Eileen Barrett on 3/26/2009

On Friday, March 20, 2009, 24 Red Hatters from the following chapters boarded a bus headed to the Seminole Inn in Indiantown, Florida: Lake Charles Classy Redkettes, Saint Lucie Red Hat Belles, and Lucie Goosies.

The Lake Charles Classy Redkettes of St. Lucie West sponsored this trip.

The Seminole Inn is a charming restored Historical Landmark in Indiantown, Florida. As you glance inside, you'll see the solid brass wall fixtures and bronze chandeliers. When we entered the Windsor Dining Room we saw the 12-foot pecky cypress ceiling and hardwood floors that have withstood the elements of time. The walls are 20 inch thick. The Inn has been around for over 70 years. It was built by S. Davies Warfield, who was president of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. His niece Wallis Warfield Simpson, later the Duchess of Windsor, was its most famous guest.

We had lunch in the Windsor Dining Room. After lunch, we toured the gift shop, and also the upstairs of the inn where there were lots of murals.

Everyone had a great time!
