The 6th Annual Red Hat Chapters Gala was held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa, FL. There were 900 Red Hat Ladies in attendance representing at least 183 chapters of the Red Hat Society from 46 Florida cities. There were 15 vendors at this event.
There was shopping from 10:30am - 12 noon with registration from 10:30 - 11:30am.The doors to the dining room opened at 11:45am. Marilyn Waltz from the West Coast Queens Council welcomed us. We all stood to recite the Red Hat Pledge.
After the Red Hat prayer, we were served our lunch - a salad of mixed field greens, plum tomatoes, feta, cucumbers and white balsamic vinaigrette (on the side) and homemade rolls. There was a choice between pan seared tilapia with Pecan Brown butter, caper berries, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed seasonal vegetables OR grilled marinated flank steak with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed seasonal vegetables. For dessert, we had bittersweet chocolate mousse with mixed berry sauce. Iced Tea & Coffee was also served.
Our entertainment was Goddess of Glitz, QM Lianne Paschette, Red Hat Sorority Chapter in Melbourne who shared "MY OVEN"S STILL HOT" from Hats! Also Marti Carroll - a Nashville recording artist performed 50's and 60's tunes from Ray Charles to Patsy Cline. She also did a tribute to her mother - Mary Swan (who passed away March 11, 2009). And there was singing by Ken Brady of the Casinos "Then you can Tell Me Goodbye", "Stand by Me" and others. The ladies sang along and danced during the entertainment portion of the program.
There were raffles, 50/50 and door prizes.
Some of those attending from the Treasure Coast were the Lucie Goosies (Queen Eileen Barrett, VQ Melissa McKinney, VQ Lynn Krauthamer, VQ Carole Wiseman and Mickie Krever), special LOTH friend from Manassas, VA - Queen Joyce Entremont of Helles Belles, Dazzling Dames in Red (Queen Florence Jones, VQ Angel Decker), Crimson Chapelere (Queen Elaine Wilson), Classic Crimson Cruisers (Queen Sidney Weber, VQ Gail Marineau, VQ Sandy MacNeil, Bess Callejo) and some of our friends from the Brevard area.
The event next year will be held on March 20, 2010. Tickets will go on sale in August.
