Contributed by: Eileen Barrett on 5/20/2009

On Saturday, May 16, 2009, more than 200 Red Hatters gathered at Miles Grant Country Club in Stuart to have an "Afternoon Tea with Elvis".

Red Hatters from the following chapters were in attendance: Capella Rosa, Chapeau Rouge, Classy Red Foxes, Crimson Bonnet Babes, Crimson Cruisers (WPB), Crimson Tea Roses, Dazzling Dames in Red, Fabulous Floozies, Foxy Red Hatters, Garden Gabbies (WPB), Glad Hatters of Vero, Les Femme en Rouge, Lucie Goosies, Martin County Ruby Reds, Mystic Jewels of the Treasure Coast, Natalie's Mischief Makers, Pampered Pack of Peacocks, Pizazzy Pineapples, Purple Passions of Hutchinson Island, Redda Kappa Gamma, Red Hat Divas, Red Hot Flashers, Red Hat Fun Seekers (Cocoa), Red Hat Pins (WPB), Red Hat Mommas, Red Hats of Barefoot Bay, Red Hats on the Go (WPB), Red Hat Tomatoes, Red-Licious Ladies (WPB), Royal Divas with Red Hattitude (Coral Springs), Rubies in the Sand (Lake Worth), Spicy Sassy Lassies, Scarlet Dames, Scarlett Red Hatters, So Brevard Scarlett Belles (Melbourne), Southern Belles of Boca, The Rockettes (Palm Bay), Red Hat Rebelles and Treasure Coast Ruby Red Jewels.

Each lady checked in at the registration desk, where Doris Ryan and Joyce Smith of the Classic Crimson Cruisers gave out table assignments and door prize tickets.

VQ Sandy MacNeil sold Raffle Tickets for a chance to win a large square hat box containing: A Red Hat Rag Doll covered in 50 $1.00 bills; a silver watch with purple face; a purple lace shawl; a collectible Commemorative Elvis Mug, dated December 3, 1983 and part of a series; bottle of wine and two wine glasses; a wrapped surprise gift; lots of Red Hat party items (napkins, place cards, notepaper); Red Hat key chain, and a Donna Parson hat. It was worth over $200.00. The winner was Dolores Principe, member of the Classic Crimson Cruisers.

Jean Jane Althoff, VQ Gail Marineau, Bess Callejo and Margie Martinez sold 50/50 Tickets. There was a split 4 ways of a $100 each and the last place winner took the HAT CLIP.

Dolores Principe helped with the 50/50 drawing and also checked for tickets at the entry to the dining room.

Our Mistress of Ceremonies was the Queen of the Classic Crimson Cruisers - Sidney Weber.

VQ Gail Marineau led us in the Red Hat Pledge and a Red Hat Prayer prior to our delicious tea sandwiches, tiny petite desserts and a strawberry. There was coffee and tea, as well as a cash bar.

All of the May birthday girls were recognized. Two of the May Birthday Girls were Vice Queens of the Classic Crimson Cruisers.

There was an autograph "Hound Dog" on the center of each table, so that all the ladies could sign it before it was given to the holder of the "purple" napkin.

Finally, what we all came to see! A gyrating performance by Port St. Lucie hairdresser Darrell Dunhill as Elvis Presley. The Red Hat Ladies LOVED him!
