The St. Lucie Mets hosted a United Way Night on Friday, August 29 th at their 7:00pm game versus the Brevard County Manatees. Sponsorship contributions and half the proceeds from all of the ticket sales helped raised $1,000 for United Way of St. Lucie County's annual fundraising campaign fund.

The generous donation from the St. Lucie Mets and this year's sponsors, Swiss Jewelry and Team Ortho, is one of the first for the upcoming United Way of St. Lucie County annual campaign, which runs from October 2008 until the end of March 2009.

"We are very grateful for the support of the St. Lucie Mets year after year", stated Judith Cruz, Vice President of Resource Development at United Way of St. Lucie County. "It's wonderful to be able to rely on our hometown team to start our annual campaign with a bang."

United Way of St. Lucie County will officially kick off its fundraising campaign on Tuesday, October 14 th with a luncheon at the Pelican Yacht Club from 11:30am-1:00pm.
