Big Brothers Big Sisters of Okeechobee wants to send everyone who supported this year's Clay Shoot at Quail Creek Plantation a huge "THANK YOU!" The event brought out 87 shooters and raised approximately $5,000! On Saturday, October 24, 2009, Quail Creek Plantation turned into target practice as shooters showed up with their guns, camo and ammo to take their turn at the clay pigeons. All to help the children of our community through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Okeechobee's mentoring programs.
Individuals from area businesses, organizations and governmental agencies were on hand to get the guns shooting and make sure this year's event was a big shot! With "Banner Sponsors" Morganti and Wal-Mart Distribution Center #7038 and "Signature Sponsors" Keiser University, Proctor Construction, KLG, Klewin Construction, AVI Control Company, Edlund, Dritenbas, & Binkley, FPL and OCI Associates the shoot was sure to be a success.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Okeechobee provides a reading mentoring program and believes that "mentoring is as simple as putting a friend in a child's life but as essential as putting hope in a child's future." Okeechobee is full of incredible mentors; volunteers who generously donate their time, talent and treasure; to help the children of Okeechobee County, but the agency is always looking for more volunteers and loyal supporters.
