NATIONAL HOSPITALITY HOUSE WEEK
STUART, FL - In celebration of National Hospitality House Week, Molly's House invites you to stop by and visit the "house" July 20 - 26, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Molly's House is a member of the National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses that represents 180 Hospitality Houses across the United States. The "Molly's House" is located at 430 SE Osceola Street, Stuart (Downtown area one block west of Martin Memorial Hospital).
Molly's House opened in 1996 in memory of Molly Sharkey who was diagnosed with Myelocytic Leukemia in 1986. Molly's Dream was to have a hospitality house built in her hometown of Stuart, FL. Her family traveled across the country to find a cure and more often than not, they stayed in the hospital or sometimes in a Ronald McDonald House. Molly's dream was to provide a "home-like" facility where families could stay when their loved one was receiving medical care. The three story yellow Victorian style home provides temporary lodging for over 200 families a year. Molly's House is the only hospitality house from Miami to Orlando that takes both children and adults.
Former First Lady, Barbara Bush was quoted by the NAHHH "I want to tell you about a unique non-profit organization that reaches out to families that are struggling with a medical crisis. The National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses is a network of houses all around the United States. They provide lodging and support for people of all ages and all walks of life who are dealing with medical emergencies far from their homes. Hospitality Houses have been one of the world's best kept secrets. Won't you please help these "homes that help and heal" become known to the world?" Barbara Bush, Former First Lady
All of our homes are special places! Thousands of families and patients of all ages and walks of life have found a haven within the warm home-like-environments provided by our hospitality houses and host homes programs. Homes that help and heal have become community assets which bring added value to the hospitals and medical centers whose thousand of patients and families we serve annually. Our homes become a home away from home for our guests.
Guests at Molly's House are well taken care of by our many volunteers who provide a warm and compassionate atmosphere throughout the house. Guests are referred by hospitals, doctors, Hospice, assisted living facilities, nursing homes and other healthcare agencies. Families from as far away as Alaska to as close as Hobe Sound have stayed at Molly's House while their loved one received medical care.
Molly's House has implemented an "Adopt a Family" program where philanthropic individuals in our community may adopt one of our families for a day, a week or month. The program so far has raised $5000 to help fund the stays of those who cannot pay. You can rest assured that Molly's House will be here for families today, tomorrow and for years to come that's to your donations. Molly's House relies on donations, grants and fund raising events to operate the house twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
If you would like to make a contribution, you can send it to Molly's House, 430 SE Osceola Street, Stuart, FL 34994 or call for us to fax you an Adopt A Family Pledge Card.
Stop by for a tour during National Hospitality House Week July 20 - 26, 2008.
