See What PAL Has to Offer You!

Some people think the Port St. Lucie Police Athletic League is a place where policemen work out. In fact, it is an organization dedicated to providing quality programs for youth ages 8 to 18. PAL is now gearing up for its fall programs. Check out some of what is available at the Port St. Lucie PAL.

Boxing is one of PAL's year round programs. Under the direction of Bill Corbett and his volunteer coaches, boxers meet at the PAL gym four nights a week to hone their skills. The program has produced national and regional champions, and boxers compete in tournaments around the state.

Karate meets three nights a week at the PAL gym. Coordinated by a 10th degree grand master, and two 4th degree black belts, the program teaches participants the basics of karate and provides the opportunity to move on for more advanced instruction. Karate is also a year round program.

The Youth Directors Council is designed for youth between the ages of 12 and 18. Members learn the value of community service as they participate in projects throughout the area and develop leadership skills.

Wrestling meets every Saturday morning during the school year. Conducted by two police officers and volunteers, the program helps wrestlers get in shape and learn the moves and strategies of this great sport.

GolfSchool also operates on Saturdays during the school year. A retired police officer and golf teaching professional teaches the mechanics and the etiquette of the game. The program meets at the PAL building or on a golf course.

Tennis clinics are conducted twice a year at Jessica Clinton Park and at the Parks Edge Community Center. The eight week clinics provide instruction in all aspects of the game.

Chess is coordinated by a policeman who is a member of the U.S. Chess Federation. Two 10 week classes are conducted on Fridays during the school year for beginners and advanced players.

Hot Shot Basketball competitions are held throughout the city during the year.

An After School program is conducted by the YMCA at the PAL building during the school year, with expanded hours provided on teacher workdays and early dismissal days to meet the needs of the community.

Pre T-Ball Camps are conducted in the Fall and Spring in conjunction with the city's Parks and Recreation Department.

The RAD KIDS safety program teaches youth ages 5 to 12 how to prepare for emergencies and to avoid danger.

PAL does not forget baseball, football, or soccer. Because Port St. Lucie has many fine sports leagues, PAL is proud to support this community effort by sponsoring a team in every Little League baseball, youth football, and youth soccer league in Port St. Lucie.
