Time to Register for PAL's Fall Programs

The Port St. Lucie Police Athletic League, Inc. is gearing up for the startup of our Fall programs. Advanced registration for all programs is scheduled for Saturday, September 6 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the PAL gym on Tiffany Avenue in Port St. Lucie.

Sign-ups will be held for the following programs:

*Wrestling - The PAL Wrestling program is for boys and girls ages 7 to 15. Taught by two Port St. Lucie police officers, the program teaches conditioning and the moves and techniques of wrestling. The program will meet on Saturday mornings from 9:00am until 11:00 am. Sessions begin on September 13, 2008 and run through May 16, 2009. The cost is $70.

*PAL Golf School - Taught by retired police officer and PGA professional Mel Bryant, the PAL Golf School teaches golf skills, the rules of play, and golf etiquette. The classes will meet at the PAL gym or a local golf course from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm beginning on September 13 and running through November 15. The cost is $35.

*Chess Class - The PAL Chess Class is for students ages 6 to 18 who want to learn the world's oldest game, or just play the game against others. Taught by a PSL police officer who is also a member of the US Chess Federation, the class meets on Friday evenings from 5:30 - 7:00 pm beginning October 3 and running through December 12. The cost is $35 for ten sessions.

*Introduction to Japanese Karate - This 5 week (15 session) class introduces boys and girls (ages 8 to 15) to the basics of karate, and provides the opportunity to move on for more advanced instruction. Classes meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm beginning on September 15. The cost is $35 per youth for the 5 week session, and pre-registration is required.

In addition to registrations being held on September 6, PAL will also be holding its next Fishing Clinic from 8:00 am until 10:00 am at the PAL gym that morning.
