Walmart Digs Deep for Red Cross
Contributed by: Donna Roberts on 7/28/2009

The Wal-Mart Foundation digs deep for North American Red Cross Chapter

Wal-Mart, the nations leading retailer, is a generous supporter of local non-profits through its Foundation. The North Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross recently received $11,975 for disaster readiness and response. "We purchased 85 special needs cots, produced a mini institute that made it possible for us to train 55 new volunteers including 9 new disaster instructors." Sarah Ruwe, CEO of the Chapter said. "We also put on two volunteer fairs, and enrolled 22 new Disaster Service Associates. This means if disaster strikes, we've got people ready to help, and that is invaluable. We are indeed grateful to the Wal-Mart Foundation for their generous donation and their dedication to our community and to North Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross.
