Results of Junior Teen Anglers Fishing Tournament

Today kicked off the new season for the Treasure Coast Chapter of Junior Teen Anglers.We started the morning off with 19 Juniors -- 14 of them returned from last year and five were new to the program.

We meet at Harbour Pointe Park and the fishing started at 9am. Well, it was 9:30 before we had the first fish come to the scale -- Thomas Roop with a 9oz. blue runner and he also had a skip jack and a snapper. Next was Neeley Bankston with a snapper. Neeley came back six more times and all but one were snappers. Taylor Roop followed with a 1lb. 2oz. blue runner and she came back 2 more times.

Andrew Evans came to the scales five times with snapper, jacks and blue runners with one weighing 1lb. 1oz. Laine Pruitt brought a snapper and Max Martzolf caught a rockfish and two snapper. Cash Roe also made five trips to the scale with four snapper and a puffer. Leah Pruitt also had a puffer. Jake Councillor weighed a robinfish. Mikey Hazellief brought a catfish to weigh. Up until the last minute Taylor Roop had the biggest fish of the tournament until the last minute when Mikey came running up with a 1lb. 9oz. mutton snapper. All fish were released.

In the 5 to 8 age group

1st place - Neeley Bankston - Allapattah Flats K - 8

2nd place - Andrew Evans - Fairlawn Elementary

3rd place - Cash Roe - Samuel S. Gaines K - 8

In the 9 to 11 age group

1st place - Thomas Roop - F.K. Sweet

2nd place - Laine Pruitt - Fairlawn Elementary

3rd place - Mikey Hazellief - Home Schooled

Biggest fish of the tournament -- Mikey Hazellief.

All the Junior Teen Anglers received a goodie bag.

Our next from shore tournament will be on Saturday -- October 3rd.
