Silver Platter Entrees, located at 1592 Village Green Drive in Port St. Lucie is now offering cooking classes. On Sunday afternoons, Tuesday mornings or Wednesday evenings you can attend classes that will help you become better acquainted with your kitchen (remember that room?)
They teach all aspects of cooking with their main emphasis on healthy cooking and eating. Every week they look at ways to use fresh herbs, spices, fresh vegetables and fruits to enhance your meals. Chef Folker Raynolds, a Graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, and a 30 year culinary veteran, imparts his wisdom, knowledge and experience in easy to understand language and practical applications. If you're shy about using a knife, or don't know what a roux is, then these classes are for you. Even an experienced cook will learn from Folker. His wife, Jayne a graduate in Languages from Edinboro State University, a 0 year culinary veteran, keeps him grounded and understandable.
The classes are fun, exciting and interesting. Each week students cook, chop, and sautee while enjoying the whole experience. The students have made new friends, learned new cooking techniques, improved their skills and enjoyed themselves in the process. One student said "it's the highlight of my week."
They are currently offering an 8-week course which covers all apsects of the kitchen, culinary terminology, baking and cooking techniques. So far the participants have voiced resounding "hallelujahs" because they can now go into the kitchen with confidence, open the refrigerator and make dinner!!
Classes are $40.00 each. They offer two discount programs; Bring a Friend and Multi-Class. If you bring a friend you both recieve 10% off the cost of the class. If you sign up for two or more classes you receive a 10% discount. The eight-week course is only $280 - the last class is free! Best of all, gather a group together and they'll design a class to meet your specific needs.
