Where does LogOn the Loggerhead go when in need of a hearty meal? The Thirsty Turtle Seagrill & Market, of course.
On the east side of Port St. Lucie Boulevard, just north of Gatlin Boulevard is a beach-themed restaurant called the Thirsty Turtle. Decorated with colorful wooden fish and nautical delights, the playful atmosphere put me at ease the moment I crept through the door.
The menu boasts of "Spirited Food & Fun" and after looking through it, my loggerhead friends and I had to agree. We found a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, soup, salad and entrees, in conjunction with a nice list of libations including frozen drinks to satisfy even the thirstiest of turtles. There is also a kid's menu for the hatchlings (12 and under).
The chef special on the blackboard caught my eye, a teriyaki ahi tuna wrap, $9.95. My dining companions ordered the fried shrimp, $13.95 and the turkey club sandwich, $6.95.
I thoroughly enjoyed my wrap -the crisp lettuce and tender teriyaki tuna were a perfect combination, and my friends were pleased with their selections, too. Despite our hunger, none of us were able to cleana plate.
While dining, I noticed an ample bar, which offers happy hour specials from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. every day of the week. Live music is also provided (be sure to call for the latest entertainment schedule).
Next time you're passing through Port St. Lucie, be sure to stop by the Thirsty Turtle Seagrill & Market for fantastic fare and lively libations.
