LogOn the Loggerhead's latest lunch destination, the Cranky Cat Cafe, proved to be the cat's meow.
Located at the corner of Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Morningside Boulevard in the Morningside Shoppes Plaza, this quaint caf is decorated inside and out with fanciful felines, which added a touch of whimsy to my dining experience. My loggerhead friend and I took a seat by the window and laughed at the photo of a ferocious kitten, framed above our table.
Our friendly server brought us menus, which included a smorgasbord of breakfast and lunch entrees. I quickly decided on the Cranky Chicken Wrap, $5.99, and a cup of the soup of the day, chicken corn chowder, $1.99. My dining companion opted for the turkey wrap, $5.49.
My chowder arrived, full of tender chicken, potatoes and fresh corn in a rich, creamy broth - absolutely delicious! Our wraps soon followed, accompanied by fries for my friend and potato salad for me.
My chicken wrap was a perfect combination of moist grilled chicken, provolone cheese, spinach and thick strips of crisp bacon, wrapped up in a spinach tortilla. The homemade potato salad was fantastic, with red skinned potatoes that added a hint of color to this usually drab dish.
My dining companion enjoyed the turkey wrap and crisp fries and we both agreed that we wouldn't leave cranky, thanks to the hearty meal we enjoyed at the Cranky Cat Caf, a gem of an eatery.
