Author touring extraordinaire, Tim Dorsey will have made over 800 author appearances at the end of this year's book tour!! He'll be blanketing almost every town in Florida including the Barnes & Noble at Jensen Beach on Tuesday April 11, 2006 at 7:00pm.
Tim Dorsey was born in Indiana, moved to Florida at the age of one, and grew up in a small town about seventy miles north of Miami called Riviera Beach. He graduated from Auburn University, where he was editor of the student newspaper, T
he Plainsman
. From there he worked as a police and courts reporter for
The Alabama Journal
, the now-defunct evening newspaper in Mongomery, Alabama. In 1987 Dorsey joined the
Tampa Tribune
as a general-assignment reporter and later worked as a political reporter in the
Tribune
's Tallahassee bureau. He was the paper's night metro editor from 1994 until 1999, when he left to write full-time.
In his newest book
THE BIG BAMBOO
, Tim Dorsey takes his hilarious and loveable serial killer, Serge Storms, to La-La Land to mingle with the stars and to carry on his usual murder and mayhem. After failing at his pursuit of marriage in
Torpedo Juice
, Serge Storms attempts another noble mission: bring Tinsel Town's attention back to Florida and revive the Sunshine State's presence in the movies. (After all, he points out, the highest grossing film in Florida history was
Deep Throat
.) Along the way, he and his stoned-out sidekick Coleman run into Ford Oelman, a budding young screenwriter who's run afoul of Ian and Mel Glick, the notorious brothers who run Vistamax Studios. Ford's been set up to take the rap for the kidnapping of Ally Street, the hot young starlet playing the lead ingnue in the over-the-top production of
All That Glitters
. Naturally it takes a force of nature like Serge Storms to make this an even bigger mess. And what does this all have to do with an impersonation of Janis Joplin and celebrities who hide out at the Viper Room?!
Meet author Tim Dorsey at Barnes & Noble in Jensen Beach on Tuesday, April 11 at 7:00pm.
