Cruisin' at HarborPlace a Roaring Success!

Residents of HarborPlace Retirement Resort and Assisted Living Community enjoy frequent trips to play the slot machines at the local arcades, as well as periodic trips on the Palm Beach Princess gambling cruise. Even Hurricane Fay couldn't stop the fun though she stopped the boat. The HarborPlace bus just kept on rolling down to the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL. Win or lose during the gambling, everyone had a great time.

HarborPlace itself was turned into a "cruise ship" for several days recently, featuring a formal themed Captain's Dinner; barbecue buffet complete with pirates; shore excursions to the beach and theater; as well as roulette, blackjack, and craps tables; and LOTS of pictures of the residents having a ball! When you entered the front door, you knew immediately from the life rings, boat ropes, and other fabulous decorations that you were "on a cruise ship." Of course, bingo, movies, and music are always on the weekly schedule at HarborPlace.

One HarborPlace staff member worked on the cruise ships for eight years, and she says living at HarborPlace is like living on a cruise ship, without the rocking! "You have good food, great entertainment, lots of 'shore excursions,' a gym, pool and hot tub, beauty salon, spa, an attentive staff, and best of all, the most friendly and caring companions as your fellow 'passengers!' " She warns though, "Just like on a ship, if you stay in your 'cabin,' you won't have as good a time."

The 'cabins' at HarborPlace compare to cruise ship suites, some with balconies or patios, and all with beautiful surroundings in the public areas, such as libraries, studies, card rooms, cozy lounges with fireplaces, bistro, gift shop, and landscaped courtyards, complete with waterfalls, fountains, and rocking chairs!
