WELLMED hosts two Ring in 2009 dance events to welcome 2009. The first event will be held on Monday, January 5 from 1 pm to 5 pm at St. Mary's Episcopal Church- Life Parish Center in Stuart. The church is located at 623 East Ocean Blvd in Stuart. The second event will be held on Wednesday, January 7 from 1pm to 5 pm at the new Port St. Lucie Civic Center in Port St. Lucie. The Port St. Lucie Civic Center is located at 9221 SE Civic Center Place in Port St. Lucie.

"These events are an excellent way for today's seniors to remain active in a fun social environment.When young, we tend to be more physically active. Conversely, as we age, these become more sedentary and calorie consuming-which contributes to and/or worsensmost diseases we encounter as we age." remarks Dr. Chris Rao, WellMed physician. Four to five hundred guests are expected at each event designed to promote physical and social activities among the senior community.

Both events will feature a lavish lunch buffet, live music and dancing. Professional dancers will be on hand to interact with guests and demonstrate the latest moves as well as some older ones. A photographer will be on hand to provide a souvenir photo for each guest to take home. The events are free and open to WellMed's Medicare-eligible members/patients.
