Volunteer for the Foster Grandparent program! Applicants need be caring adults,age 55 and older,who have a desire to help children read. Volunteers work in the classroom, under the teachers instruction, helping students one-to-one with reading. With the belief that reading is the foundation of education, we strive to help every student reach their full potential. Foster Grandparents volunteer 20 hours a week in local elementary schools in Saint Lucie County. Seniors on a limited income can earn a small stipend for their commitment, as well as mileage allowance and lunch at school. To learn more, telephone (772) 467-0008.
