Comcast Didn't Tell Us This One
Contributed by: Al LeBlanc on 4/10/2007

Two weeks ago I started having trouble getting on the Internet from my home computer. I decided after two days I was hopelessly over my head so I called Comcast customer support. We did the drill without success but the gentleman said that perhaps my firewall had decided to block my Internet access.

Two uninstalls later I was back where I started. Then I was told I had corrupt files in my OS (humor me).The only solution would be to re-format. Yup. I did it. So now I had uninstalled my Virus/Firewall software, reformatted my computer (you lose everything), and been offline for ten days. I called Comcast customer support again after I still could not get online.

The new young lady said I had a bad modem. That I could exchange it at the old Adelphia office and to call customer support to activate it when I was ready. I did that the next day. That's when I began to lose it.

A third Comcast customer support person told me she could not activate my new modem. She said Comcast had blocked my Internet access and the Internet access of many other customers in the 772 and 561 area codes and my account would be blocked for another week or so. She said it had nothing to do with my account status or the TV side, but was a part of the transition from Adelphia to Comcast.

I asked her why the other customer service people didn't mention it and why Comcast never took the time to let the public know. She said she didn't know, but I should call for a credit when I got my service back.

We know why don't we. Money.

I'm having fun. How about you?

I too have had it with Comcast. Good luck getting any answers. I have had trouble with my Broadband modem for anout 1 month now. So I called comcast and they told me to take it back. I get to a camcast office and they say "oh we cant swap you a new on for 4 more days" so I go buy a new modem, and guess what???Its not my modem thats bad its comcast service thats bad. I lost internet explorer comletely. I even tried re-installing it. I do NOT have a fire wall up, I never changed my settings , yet I still cant recieve it. I had to download Netscape 8.0. Now I can browse. I still can sign on to AOL. but I want to know why comcast's service is so lousy and where the heck is internet explorer. The new braodband box I bought now is losing internet about 5 times a day. Comcast will try to say its the computor, but is only 8 months old and it ws fine before I switched to comcast. Jane. PSL
