Today is Election Day on the Treasure Coast, Tuesday August 26, 2008.
Now granted we did not vote Presidentially, for a President but I think today's election was more important then the one where we pick between McCain and Obama.
Today's election was about our neighborhoods.
Today we voted as to who is going to represent our small corner on the map.
Now I am not being high and mighty. Believe me there are more things that are going on in the world that I have no clue about compared to the things I follow. So, please understand,I am not here to tell you that if you missed voting today you screwed up.
What I do know though is that locally we can make a difference.
Today when I pulled in to vote, I was warmed to meet candidate for re-election Chris Craft, outside with a campaign sign. I have known Mr Craft since he took office some years ago. I had had the opportunity to meet him while he campaigned then and then when he took office to discuss issues on the mind of my neighborhood. And I know that he listened, and I know that he and other officials will always know what I feel about what is going on. Not just because my tax dollars pay for them to be there. Actually because people like Chris Craft and Paula Lewis, have been known to see me in public and ask me. And if you know me, I don't hold back.
If you don't vote though, you lose the chance you have to speak your mind, your concerns and your joys about your little corner of the world.
Hope you voted today.
I did.
Proudly
