Contributed by: Tom Filipkowski on 4/19/2009

This summer, the Port St. Lucie Police Athletic League, Inc. is sponsoring three camps for the young scientific mind. All of the camps will be held at the PAL building, 2101 SE Tiffany Avenue in Port St. Lucie. Each camp will run for three hours a day for four days. The cost is $60 per camp. Pre-registration is required.

Primary Science Camp is designed for students ages 7-8-9. Participants will build and launch their own rockets, safely test water from home and bring home a water quality report, and explore flight, electricity, magnets, cells, simple machines, and more.

Two sessions of this camp will be offered: June 22-25 from 1pm until 4 pm and July 13-16 from 9 am until 12 noon.

Intermediate Science Camp is designed for students ages 10-11-12. Participants will build and launch their own rockets, and build and race balloon racers. They will explore magnets, electrical circuits, chemistry, bridge building, and more.

Three sessions of this camp will be offered: June 22- 25 from 9 am until 12 noon, June 29 - July 2 from 9 am until 12 noon, and July 13 - 16 from 1 pm until 4 pm.

Advanced Science Camp is designed for students 11-12-13, or for students who have taken the Intermediate Camp. The popular rocket launching will be back. Students will also work with bottle rockets, chemistry, bridge design, and they will test and analyze pond water.
