Due to the generosity of some wonderful anonymous donors, 114 students and 23 chaperones enjoyed visits to Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center in June.
Twenty-five Port Salerno Elementary students along with eight chaperones visited the Coastal Center on June 11th. Hope Rural School benefitted from two outings; June 16 th with 56 students and 10 chaperones and June 23 rd with 33 students and five chaperones.
The students had the opportunity to attend private Coastal Center programs, hike the Nature Trail, visit the Butterfly Garden and experience hands-on encounters with marine animals.
Michelle Byriel, Education and Exhibit Specialist, also inspired the students with special sea turtle presentations. Team Ocean volunteers assisted with the enthusiastic students.
With the current economy and budget cuts, sponsors are needed more than ever to give students the opportunity for a Coastal Center experience
