PORT ST LUCIE, Fla.--In business for close to 13 years, Blue Planet Dive & Surf, Inc. is a diving, surfing and skateboarding authority on the Treasure Coast.
"It will be 13 years this October," said original owner Kirk Neville.
Blue Planet Dive & Surf, Inc. offers SCUBA training, organizes dive trips for locals and tourists, provides rentals, arranges for repairs and of course offers a wide variety of SCUBA equipment. Surfers aren't left out. There is a wide variety of items available to them as well as skateboarders.
A look around the store located in the Publix shopping plaza on St. Lucie West Boulevard you see a well-organized, stylish shop. Neville attends to details such as how many backpacks need to be on a hook!
However, it is that attention to detail that keeps the customers pouring in. The phone rings and it is a customer wanting to be on a charter for this Saturday. Neville, proceeds to place him on hold to call the charters he partners with to find him a spot. This kind of customer service brings them in time after time.
St. Lucie County is the gateway to diving South Florida. The clear blue waters of the Gulf Stream are just a short drive away. Blue Planet can connect you with dozen of dive charters from Jupiter to Ft. Lauderdale. The shop also organizes trips to the Keys and Panhandle. This is a great service for those who want the experience of diving in South Florida, but could use the laid back feel of St. Lucie County.
Local diving opportunities include the Urca de Lima underwater archaeological preserve. The two freighters sank by the U-333 on May 6, 1942 during WWII, the Halsey and the Amazon also rest off the St. Lucie County shores. The County has also provided endless opportunities for diving through their artificial reef program. For more information on the many diving opportunities the County offers, log on
